Law Society launched family law resources website

On June 13, 2012, the Law Society of Upper Canada has released a new website to give practical information and guidance for parents and children involved in a family law dispute. The new website, entitled Your Law: Family Law in Ontario (address http://yourontariolaw.com/) is an easy-to-use online gateway to many useful family law resources.

Laurie Pawlitza, Treasurer (equivalent to President or CEO) of the Law Society, says that the website is a component taken by the Law Society to make family law justice more accessible to people who need it. “The Law Society needed to take action to help improve the family law justice system,” she states. “People involved in family breakdowns are increasingly looking for answers online and the Your Law site makes sure they can easily find accurate and helpful information in plain language. Our justice system should not be a maze that only legal professionals can navigate.”

The new website includes helpful checklists, definitions of common terms, and links to videos and other resources.

“The Your Law: Family Law in Ontario website is just one of the many online initiatives the Law Society has led to facilitate greater access to justice and enable the justice system to work more efficiently,” says Treasurer Pawlitza.
