Federal Skilled Worker program update: Less than 100 spots remain for NOC #3111 applicants

The federal skilled worker program was substantially changed on June 26, 2010 (see my previous blog).

For the year between June 26, 2010 and June 30, 2011, the cap on the total number of the skilled worker applications is 20,000. In addition, for each eligible occupation, a maximum of 1,000 applications will be considered for processing within this same time frame.

As of June 8, 2011, CIC has received a total of 13,143 skilled worker applications. Several occupation categories have reached the cap, and applicants of these occupations have to wait until July 2011 to apply.

Applications with Arranged Employment, however, are not subject to these caps and may still apply under the federal skilled worker program.
